Join us for The Hornet's Nest Net...
Time: 7:30PM EDT UTC -4
Date: Sunday Evenings
Location: W4HTP Repeater Dallas, NC
Frequency: 145.350 -0.6 PL 82.5
DMR: Brandmeister Talk Group 31375 The Hornet's Nest (For check-in's only. Listen on VHF or Broadcastify.)
HF: Band and Frequency to be announced weekly.
The Hornet's Nest Net is a weekly multi-mode preparedness focused net. We take initial check-in's on the repeater, much like other nets, but we will also be taking check-in's on HF as well as DMR. For those participants that are outside the range of the 145.350 repeater or do not have immediate access to an appropriate radio or are checking in on DMR or HF, you can listen to the net live on Broadcastify.
https://www.broadcastify.com/webPlayer/43107
After check-in's there will be a presentation on a preparedness topic, such as emergency power, food storage, field medicine, etc. During the presentation, opportunities will be provided for comments and questions.
After the presentation, the VHF portion of the net will be closed. At this point HF band and frequency will have been selected and announced. Participants may then switch over to HF equipment and the net will continue on HF.
The Hornet's Nest Nest was conceived and initiated around 2014 and was successful during its active years. It was designed as a platform to share information on preparedness topics, provide a place to exercise, test and experiment with radio equipment, push the boundaries of existing radio equipment and to establish a community of like minded individuals. The multi-mode approach is based on having alternative/supplemental avenues of communication should any common avenues become interrupted, such as repeater unavailability due to failure, interference or appropriation. It also allows for a tiered approach to regional communications.
Due to many factors over years, The Hornet's Nest Net had temporarily ceased operation. Now, The Hornet's Nest Net is coming back stronger, with more resources and reach than ever before. Because, the need for this still exists, perhaps more now than ever before. More resources are bring developed and implemented as we grow.

Re: CQ CQ CQ The Hornet's Nest Net!
When George was doing this from about 2014-2017ish, this was the most unique Net concept. I am so glad it is back. This is good ham radio.

Thanks George!
